Frequently Asked Questions

What is the mission of the San Diego Warriors?

Our mission is to have fun in a safe way and build male friendships.

Can I use my own bat?

We only allow the use of league provided, ASA approved bats in 26 thru 29 ounces. Any other bat is prohibited except for players at least 69 years old, or turning 69 that year. They are allowed to use any bat of their choosing…so long as it does not resemble a cricket bat, boat paddle, walker, or anything else to help them get a hit.

Do players stay on the same team each season?

No. We re-draft teams each season, so players are not necessarily with the same teammates each season. After a couple seasons everyone should play with or against each other. (See question #1.)

How “senior” are San Diego Warrior players?

We have players from 45-years old to 70+ years old!

I’m not as athletic as I used to be or I’m nursing an injury. Do I have to run the bases?

We allow courtesy runners only after a batter reaches at least first base.

I can only walk, crawl, or limp to first base. Can an outfielder throw me out at first base?

No. Outfielders must station themselves behind an arc of orange cones until the ball is stuck. If a batted ball touches the grass, the batter can do no worse than a single. Batters may not be put out at first base by a throw from any outfielder.

Do you have umpires?

Yes. We hire our own, paid umpires. We don’t pay them much, so please don’t argue calls with them.

Which teams make the playoffs?

Every team plays in the first round of the playoffs. Teams are reseeded for the semi-finals. Highest remaining seed is the home team for the Championship game.

What happens if someone gets hurt…or hugged by Geoff?

All games have a fully stocked first aid kit and cardiac defibrillator with trained personnel on site.

Can we have adult BEvERageS after the game?

In accordance with San Diego city ordinance, alcohol is NOT allowed at Hourglass Park. If you want to share a BEvERage with your fellow Warriors please visit a local establishment. As always, please drink responsibly.
